THE BUDDY PROGRAM
At Canton First, we want to come alongside families and all of their children, recognizing that every child is created in God’s image with a special purpose and plan for his or her life.
What is a Buddy?
A Buddy is a leader who is assigned to work one-on-one with a child with special needs. Buddies are trained to work with the child to accomodate his or her specific needs. Through an inclusion process, children in the Buddy Program will stay with their peers unless they need a break for any reason. We want each child to have a consistent buddy or pair of buddies so that a relationship is fostered, trust is gained, and love is nurtured.
Families
We have a setup and intake process that involves parents completing a questionnaire and our staff working to match each child with a buddy. In some cases, this process may take a few weeks.
